Node Economy PT. 1 (A Solution to Keep the American Economy Vibrant)

This is the first of a two-part series on using a more structured system to use the benefits of space R&D to reinvigorate the economy. This is The Hamilton Institute’s proposal to prevent shocks to the economy which cause severe disruption to the politics and further enrage the population. The tax plan that the Hamilton Institute has developed with a fundamental restructuring of the U.S.economy will help to do wonders to help reemploy an eager population who wants to start enjoying life again. A functional and firey government that could solve and invests in the country will help ease the uncertainty in the country right now. The top issues and complaints of the voters in America can be attributed to a dysfunctional congress and senate.

This article is going to go into the economy but also explains how the U.S.’s first-past-the-post system affects the political environment. When parties have a scorched earth policy and start cutting out policies of the opposing party they have defeated. Yes, you scored a short-term victory but you are setting the road up for major issues to develop and not be resolved. I’m not arguing for a change to the system but having reforms and updates but also for voters to understand that our strength in a democracy is each other. Nothing is ever going to change unless the declining tech cluster and unproven tech clusters will never move past the point of just political saber-rattling.

The bickering between America’s top two parties causes damage to not only its citizens but also to the cause of Democracy which in the essence is the concept of one man one vote. A western competitor to the Authoritarian systems of the strong man of many countries on the planet can be defeated. Our system can win by simply having America the most prosperous and freest society on the planet. This Country is the number one place for immigrants, number one economy, number one in tech, number one in culture, and number one in living standards. It can get better which requires a generation of leaders who understands the old way of doing politics, business, and life has long been done.

Understanding the second coming of the Space Age will help my and future generations thinking to execute decisions compared to the old industrial hydrocarbon debates of the past. I’m calling for the VC system to be augmented to have a multi-hub network to help revitalize mega-regions which throw out the old politics of the 1960s where the city and state holds sway over mega-regions that have huge populations and issues to be solved. Nasa and national labs are the nodes and the VCs, Family Offices, Angel Investors, and Private Equity are the hub and constituents, with Government Statistics and data as signals. Workers will be the connections that whenever the training, demographics, or new opportunities appear can be used to gauge and/or adjust to help keep the economy vibrant.

We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

Benjamin Franklin

Now for the politics which is always easier said than done when dealing with day-to-day politics. I’m going to say that having a bipartisan mentality when the economy is fueling the divide where you have rent-seeking from establishment players who come from declining sectors and you have political noise from new technologies who have not yet proven their reliability in proving power consistency. This system that we call for will help develop and redevelop forgotten areas of America. Bipartisan is not only national security issue but an economic case too.

The reason why a lot of other countries don’t have certain problems with politics is that they have a proportional representation system where if the election is lost for the incumbent party and they lose big. They still have some representation for their constitutions and in the government. In America, the losing party is out of power completely which put huge voting blocks out for favor in the eyes of the opposite party. I’m not calling for a change to this system because the U.S. has something to resolve this and it’s called bipartisanship. At the end of the day if certain pieces of the minority party have some items they could still take care of fellow citizens and it helps democracy’s image in this war-torn world.

With a focus on Megaregions in America and the world instead of cities and states. We can pass the policies to really create the change and create a friendly environment that the public, businesses, and politicians on both sides of the spectrum will love to have in the country right now. Increasing the budgets of NASA (the largest I’m calling for), DOD, HHS, and CDC with basic research and R&D will make these clusters sustainable and not subject to offshoring.

Here are more details on the full 29 mega-regions.

Oh Jesus, just buy Russia goddamn it already!!! (Shit Fuck)

It’s time to bring Russia into the U.S. as an equal partner and it will help stabilize the planet for business, politics, and global security. We have seen decades upon decades of fierce and bloody competition between two superpowers but with the Ukraine situation, it’s time for another mindset of thinking. I’m not justifying or excusing the atrocities of war crimes but if we use the TRC of South Africa could help with de-escalation. The reason why the Hamilton Institute is concerned is the massive economic and financial shocks from collaborative sanctions placed on Russia which cause the Government to place internal problems on an external force instead of Grafh, Corruption, reducing red tape, reforms, and firing incompetent officials. It will prolong the conflict instead of reducing it while building up the underground economy particularly cyber and counterfeiting of US currency and products.

Just buying Russia will solve so many problems in the world and the saying about Russia being “nukes, gooks(spies and scientists), and women.” This will bring so many benefits to both countries plus help with the declining population rate with a possible airlift of young men and women to the US so they could either marry each other (Russian Couples) or help raise the majority population declining demographics with will bring the craziness out of the current political debates right now. The Benefits of adding Russia to the US besides nukes, gooks, and women will be discussed later in the article.

Besides the usually offensive and defensive realism between the two former industrial cold war rivals but the serious ratching up by the Russians can ideologically be tied to when the decision to place Stalinism on the same level as Nazism which stunned Russia which received the brunt of the Nazi aggression which saw huge numbers of its population, industrial centers, and cities simply obliterated. Imagine these cities Detroit, New York, San Francisco at the height of WWII (not the hollowed-out skeletons today) moving to the middle of the country to escape the onslaught. This was Operation Barbarossa which brought out ever more casualties to an already war-torn country.

MBIC Moscow

Russia being added to the US economy is an extra 1.71 Trillion dollars added to the U.S. economy. Mergers and Acquisitions between the corporate sector, the net gain for the U.S. Defense Sector by simply absorbing the military assets, and scientific gains by the purchase will foretell benefits thousands of times over and over. Debra Decker at Defense One points out the common interest between the U.S. and Russia. Two areas stand out for consideration. Iran and North Korea are two major global security issues plus the traditional concern of Nuclear issues stemming from the cold war conflict. The one that stand out to me are:

New Areas for Cooperation

Issue: Nuclear attribution. If you think relations are rocky now, consider how things would slide if a nuclear or radiological event occurred, and one country accused the other of purposely or inadvertently losing control of its dangerous materials. The IAEA has established some good forensics practices, but there are few political mechanisms for agreeing on attribution outside the IAEA safeguards process. In the chemical-weapons area, where we have a Chemical Weapons Convention, we have seen the attribution challenges in Syria. We have also seen the diplomatic fallout as a nerve agent poisoning case has continued to plague a small British community, with questions about the formal attribution process.

Approach: The U.S. and Russia can establish a joint study group of scientists and policy experts to explore the political and scientific lessons learned from past inspections for alleged violations under international conventions and safeguards agreements. The group could also review new attribution approaches, such as the French one for chemical attribution, and recommend process steps that go further than existing IAEA guidance.

Issue: New challenges are emerging from the broader uses of outer space to the cybersecurity of nuclear weapons and of facilities, with the Department of Homeland Security revealing new information on Russian cyber intrusions into U.S. critical infrastructure, including nuclear power plants. Disruptive technologies such as additive manufacturing challenge traditional export control mechanisms for controlling proliferation while cryptocurrencies challenge controls over the financing of illicit transfers.

Approach: Establishing joint expert groups of to consider some of these challenging areas would help in moving us toward developing agreed norms of behavior that could help avoid future deadly conflicts. Other countries are already moving forward fast in some areas, such as space issues and anti-satellite weaponry. Discussions including former military officials, experts and diplomats are needed, with NTI being a good example of one taking the lead in the area of weapon cybersecurity.

Decker, Debra. “The US and Russia Have Plenty of Areas for Cooperation. Let’s Get to Work.” Defense One, https://www.defenseone.com/ideas/2018/07/us-and-russia-have-plenty-areas-cooperation-lets-get-work/149996/

Let’s heal the planet, advance humanity, have babies, and start to enjoy our beautiful species instead of destroying each other! This is so much better than what’s going on because it’s so sad and depressing, especially after the Covid lockdowns which stopped at least 2 years of people’s live but for some, it was even more.

Carbon Fraction PT. 2 (Fire Ice, Carbon, Methane, and Hybrid Gases to energize and fuel the economy)

This is the second part of the Pro Carbon Fraction article on transitioning the planet to a new age where we have shifted from the Holocene to a fuller version of the Anthropocene. We could adjust the amount of Carbon to help heat or cool the planet which is great for business, politics, and survivability. A collaborative effort by U.S./Western Free market Institutions and the Government could create a counter to the state-led energy majors in OPEC. The U.S. can lead in this by using its massive Scientific leadership to find a so-called “point of no return” where we could have guardrails on the lowest/highest amount of Carbon ppm in the atmosphere of the planet. Immediate action on making Carbon and Methane integral to the economy will make remediation for future generations.

Let’s talk first about Fire Ice which is a potential game-changer but it’s very compatible with Carbon. The lifespan of Methane is 9.1 years in our atmosphere before it escapes into space. This helps where when CCS begins where we could actually adjust the Carbon we pull from the air for our economy for manufacturing, sequestered, or allocation. The article highlighted in the point of no return link above shows that the flywheel effect with the oceans and carbon would provide some leeway in keeping the planet in the Goldilocks Zone where it’s not too hot or too cold for life on the planet.

Methane being put into the atmosphere while pulling out Carbon to be allocated in a market setting like the CME with the inclusion of Scientists creates a great framework for future partnerships for major geo projects. Let’s dive further deeper into Fire Ice:

“Methane hydrates or ‘fire-ice’ is a globally distributed fossil fuel. It is composed of methane trapped inside a lattice of water molecules, which forms a white, energy-dense substance that can be easily ignited, like solid ethanol. The hydrates form at relatively shallow sub-surface depths, in high pressure and low temperature environments, typical of outer continental margins and permafrost areas. Once the substance is heated and depressurised to normal conditions, 1cm of hydrates equates to ~164cm of regular natural gas. The gas consists of 80-99.9% methane and produces much less pollution than coal and oil when burned – estimates suggest that natural gas emits just 60% of the carbon emissions generated by coal, and 80% of the emissions generated by oil.”

Latham, Toya. “METHANE HYDRATES: IS ‘FIRE-ICE’ THE NEXT ENERGY REVOLUTION?.” Enverus, https://www.enverus.com/blog/methane-hydrates-fire-ice-next-energy-revolution/#:~:text=Methane%20hydrates%20or%20’fire%2Dice,easily%20ignited%2C%20like%20solid%20ethanol.

In the flywheel effect, the temperature of the oceans, Carbon is processed by either being left to float in the atmosphere or pulled for later allocation within the economy. This is our future and we need to embrace it by preparing the necessary investments. This could also begin to build the foundation of our evolving capitalism to employ millions of eager Western workers. This should help to bring back trust and confidence into the institutions that have seen massive distrust from populations they are determined to help and protect. This will absorb excess by-products while creating capital market opportunities for the public, the government for taxation, and corporations who want a chance to capitalize on business openings.

Now we could use the NOAA National Weather Service to get a pinpoint place to begin to allocate the Carbon in the Atmosphere by the season and find a “normal” pathway depending on Summer (Max Carbon pulled, Methane steady), Spring (Carbon pulled but on the smaller end, Methane steady) Winter (Min Carbon pulled, Methane Accelerated), and Autumn (mid-level Carbon pulled, Methane adjusted on climate data atm). I could see an NOAA and IPCC working together to provide accurate information to the industries, suppliers, and policymakers to have stability in the climate intergered economy.

“Officially, the current epoch is called the Holocene, which began 11,700 years ago after the last major ice age. However, the Anthropocene Epoch is an unofficial unit of geologic time, used to describe the most recent period in Earth’s history when human activity started to have a significant impact on the planet’s climate and ecosystems. The word Anthropocene is derived from the Greek words anthropo, for “man,” and cene for “new,” coined and made popular by biologist Eugene Stormer and chemist Paul Crutzen in 2000.

Scientists still debate whether the Anthropocene is different from the Holocene, and the term has not been formally adopted by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), the international organization that names and defines epochs.”

National Geographic Editors. “Anthropocene” National Geographic Encyclopedia, https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia/anthropocene/

This is great because this is the rumbling of the start of moving towards a Type 1 Civilization where we begin to craft the planet’s energy to support our existence. This is our ultimate destination where the U.S. will lead us to abundance and posterity.

Brent Carbon Price/WTI Carbon Price – A Way To Tax and Allocate Carbon

This is the second part of the previous article on APM and hopefully, it helps to build a foundation for creating a global framework toward a carbon capital markets regime. This financial underpinning in America’s institutions includes taxing, platform placement, suppliers, and beneficiaries. I’m very happy and optimistic about the future of the planet but especially as I see the U.S.’s role in creating this beautiful reality. Once carbon is securitized and traded in terms of a commodity instead of the fatalism of the Climate Question will become more positive. It will shift to market-based long-term planning in terms of manufacturing than a short-term emotional politically deceived debate.

I had a tough couple of weeks of wondering how to even address the problem and where the look to begin with. I went back to the source of the previous article and I began to say “Hey, the best way to start is the basis of the article. CARBON CARBON CCCAAARRBBBOOONNNN! So to begin how about the measurement should be at the atomic level. Let’s start by measuring the amount carbon in a barrel of crude oil.”

I’m not a scientist or have a deep understanding of the science so I stumbled on a great blog by Jim Bliss on Carbon measurement. His blog post helped clarify how to begin developing a globally acceptable thus traded market. He broke down what is lost on the carbon debate which I argue should be put on the CME trading market. When you begin to measure on the atomic level it really helps to craft an understanding of the issue.  You need to see how they also begin to add to your thinking that the US and the World have different standards of measuring which causes uncertainty in the markets, particularly with the C-Suite.  Read the citation on the blog post below to understand why the industry fights this but this should help answer.

CO2 EMISSIONS

Petrol:
1 litre: 2.331kg of CO2
1 US gallon: 8.824kg of CO2

Diesel:
1 litre: 2.772kg of CO2
1 US gallon: 10.493kg of CO2

Crude oil:
1 barrel: 317kg of CO2 (min.)

1 TONNE OF CO2 IS:

429 litres / 113.33 gal of petrol*
360.75 litres / 95.3 gal of diesel
3.15 barrels of crude oil

* less than 8 fills of an average-sized car with a 55 litre tank

1. Gasoline: 44.1% (70.12 litres)
2. Distillate fuel oil: 20.8% (33.07 litres)
3. Kerosene-type jet fuel: 9.3% (14.79 litres)
4. Residual fuel oil: 5.2% (8.27 litres)**

Percentage values from Riegel’s Handbook of Industrial Chemistry, 2003 edition (Page 515, Fig. 15.6). Litre values based upon conversion rate of 159 litres per barrel.

All of the other products*** of refined crude have sufficient alternative uses to make it possible (even if not entirely probable) that they will not end up as atmospheric CO2. Of the four grades of fuel listed above, however, it’s fair to say all of it is destined to be burnt. It’s worth noting, therefore, that our final result will represent a minimum CO2 per barrel.

Now, the litre values are no good to us by themselves. Each of the fuels has a different specific gravity (a different weight per litre), and it’s the weight of carbon we’re looking for, not the volume. Once we’ve multiplied the volume of each fuel by the relevant specific gravity we’ll have a rough “kilogram per barrel” number for each fuel. So:

1. Gasoline: 70.12 litres x 0.74 = 51.89kg
2. Distillate fuel oil: 33.07 litres x 0.88 = 29.10kg
3. Kerosene-type jet fuel: 14.79 litres x 0.82 = 12.13kg
4. Residual fuel oil: 8.27 litres x 0.92 = 7.61kg****

Overall, this suggests that the average barrel of crude refined in the United States in 1995 yielded a shade over 100kg of liquid fuels (that’s an uncannily round number… 100.73kg to be exact). Now, we know that a carbon-based fuel will emit 3.15 times its own weight in CO2 when burnt.

Bliss, Jim. “Carbon dioxide emissions per barrel of crude.” The Quiet Road, http://numero57.net/2008/03/20/carbon-dioxide-emissions-per-barrel-of-crude/

This was great and I wanted to post a previous post by him:

“I then took that 317kg (which was the primary goal of my work, as it’s a useful reference figure) and applied it to a specific real-world project. In this case, the Peterhead / Miller Field carbon capture scheme proposed by BP. According to the BP press release:

Injecting the carbon dioxide into the Miller Field reservoir more than three kilometers under the seabed could extend the life of the field by about 20 years and enable additional production of about 40 million barrels of oil that are not currently recoverable.BP | Industrial-scale decarbonized fuels project

And in the following paragraph:

The project would also permanently store 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of removing 300,000 cars from the roads.

Based upon these figures, provided by BP, it is clear that the 40 million barrels of oil will generate (multiply by 317kg) approximately 12.68 million tonnes of CO2. Which clearly dwarfs the 1.3 million tonnes that BP claims will be stored.”

Bliss, Jim. “Oil Companies and Climate Change Redux..” The Quiet Road, http://numero57.net/2008/03/20/oil-companies-and-climate-change-redux/

Now we got something to look at with a figure to start: 317kg of CO2. Now we could say that a “Barrel” of carbon is equivalent to the above measurement and with the push in the globe into carbon capture. With CCS (Carbon Capture and Sequestration) technology it can be a commodity like wood, titanium, steel, and of course Oil. Now industries on both sides of the Atlantic could adjust and make long-term business planning now that carbon will not be a politically no-winner causing backlash.

Now the premise of the article which could have a stabilizing effect on the market is the creation of the WTI/Brent Oil and Carbon Index.

1 barrel of crude oil is: 42 gallons/158.987 liters

1 barrel of carbon is: 317kg of CO2

Now we could get into the breakdown of the difference between the WTI vs Brent price index. The security of the US market vs the Brent which includes the Middle East, European, and African oil producers, which are usually state players. If you are watching the news right now then you’ll understand why the brent is high because of the major geopolitically headwinds in the world. WTI will always be a secure source of oil/carbon because it is in the Continental US and the Americas. Brent has a range of security issues which is always a security dilemma for the US which in turn must use its military in order to keep the free flow of the world’s energy.

If you attach the oil and carbon intertwined simultaneously it could help with first the price which a trader can buy and then the option is there for an Oil prime (Carbon included) or Oil sweet (Carbon Excluded) contract. The trader, institution, or Major Carbon emitters can buy the contracts with the tax plan that the Hamilton Institute is calling for it. Is included and used to CCS, advance technology to pull the carbon out of the atmosphere to be manufactured into products, and advance America’s economic, scientific, and military might.

This is completely different from the carbon credit regime in place where a contract is bought and later sold for profit. This proposal that is laid out is completely different than the latter. This version calls for carbon to be put into the financial markets and used in the taxation and allocation in the Western Economy.

APM- The Western Answer for the Climate Question!

In 2013, I saw a book on the World Future Society recommended book list, and as I scroll through the list one book stood out to me as very interesting and dynamic. It was a book by Mr. K. Eric Drexler and it was called Radical Abundance: How a revolution in Nanotechnology Will Change Civilization.”  I raced to the library and picked up the book only to be inspired but extremely hopeful about the future of Planet Earth. This book is not to be confused with another great book by the same title which is Peter Diamandis’s book “Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think”

Reading both these great books in which Peter Diamandis presented real-world examples and investments made my general mood happier about innovation and US Capitalism to solve emerging problems. K. Eric Drexler’s book really stuck with me and always wondered if the commitment of US Govt resources was put into Atomic Precise Manufacturing like the Space Race in the 1960s how would the world look in twenty, fifty, or hundred years from now. I’m quite happy to say that The Hamilton Institute is calling for this to become a National Security Priority like A.I. which with Quantum Technologies would keep the U.S.’s primary in its scientific, military, economic, and commercial sectors.

One of the outlining problems with this technology is the extremely expensive process which in turn creates extremely expensive products. This closes off marketing or advertising from the general public to only government and publicly traded fortune 500 companies who would be able to afford the products. I’m quite happy to say with US and Western government investments to bring the cost down and direct it to Military, Medical, and Heavy Construction will help commercialize this critical technology with Quantum Technologies (Sensing, Computing, and Communications) is equivalent to the Steam Engine of the benefits of what it could bring to Human Species.

Why do I say the West has an answer to the climate question because the basis of the APM is carbon atoms which switch carbon from waste by-products into the commodity market. I see in the future that Carbon will be on the CME trading desk as an investment vehicle as soybeans, corn, pork bellies, and crude oil. It will also have a marker like how crude oil is under the Brent Crude Price. It might be called Brent Carbon Price since the byproduct of using oil for energy is the carbon byproduct.

Dan Slomski who is an Engineer and Partner at Prime Movers Lab, identifying and funding the most breakthrough of inventions have a great series APM on medium (pt. 1 2 3 ) before we proceed Dan is discussing how APM can be accomplished, but we need to understand a few terms before we could proceed:

  • Nanomanufacturing is described by the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), a US Government R&D Initiative, as: “Manufacturing at the nanoscale… Nanomanufacturing involves scaled-up, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing of nanoscale materials, structures, devices, and systems”
  • With nanoscale being “structures with a length scale applicable to nanotechnology, usually cited as 1–100 nanometers” (Wikipedia)
  • Top-down: “Top-down fabrication reduces large pieces of materials all the way down to the nanoscale, like someone carving a model airplane out of a block of wood” (NNI)
  • Bottom-up “creates products by building them up from atomic- and molecular-scale components” (NNI)
  • Nanofabrication is often used interchangeably with nanomanufacturing. However, nanofabrication is used more to convey an R&D activity consuming funds, while nanomanufacturing is a production activity generating revenue (Nanostructure Control of Materials)

When Michio Kaku gives a talk about the perfect capitalism and when you are not familiar with the hard science then it sounds like a pipe dream until you dive into what he says:

“To understand economics, you must understand where wealth comes from. If you talk to an economist, the economist might say, “Wealth comes from printing money.” A politician might say, “Wealth comes from taxes.” I think they’re all wrong – the wealth of society comes from physics.

For example, we physicists worked out the laws of thermodynamics in the 1800s, which gave us the Industrial Revolution, the steam engine, and the machine age. This was one of the greatest revolutions in human history. Then we physicists solved the mystery of electricity and magnetism, which gave us the electric revolution of dynamos, generators, radio, and television, and then we worked out the laws of the quantum theory, which gave us the transistor, computers, the internet, and laser. The three great revolutions of the past all came from physics.

We’re now talking about how physics is creating the fourth great revolution at the molecular level: artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and biotechnology. That’s the fourth wave, but we can also see outlines of the fifth wave beyond that. That one is driven by physics at the atomic level, e.g. quantum computers, fusion power and brain-net (when the human mind is merged with computers). So when you look towards mid-century, we’ll be in the fifth wave, and what drives all these waves? Physics. And how is it manifested? Through the economy.

So, taxes and printing money are not where wealth comes from. Those things massage, distribute, and manipulate wealth, but they don’t create it. Wealth comes from physics.

Kaku, Michio. “Michio Kaku says physics could create a perfect capitalism.” Weforum, https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/01/michio-kaku-says-physics-will-create-a-perfect-capitalism/

When you read the Pro Carbon Fraction (part two coming soon) and see that the technologies that are at bay can help advance the human condition, pull carbon from the atmosphere, and advances the United States’ absolute structural advantage further into the future. The Net Zero, ESG, and Climate doomism really is overplayed and downright senseless when we should be adjusting our educational and labor market to embrace this beautiful future that awaits us if we just snatch it into our hands.

Let’s make this future our children’s reality!!!!

Reintroducing the Tesla Mobility group (Upgrade 1.5)

A prior article was posted about seven years ago on two unrelated financial news items that I tried to connect. The downgrade of the Model S and the VW scandal created a condition for a potential merger. This would have accelerated the electrical vehicle/hybrid vehicle where the technology from Tesla could be used to augment VW to a hybrid vehicle manufacturer to help with shock from the phased drawdown of oil. I will still make the original argument but expanded with two companies.

This upgrade to the Tesla empire would be VW, Daimler AG, and a military contractor was known as Lockheed Martin which is one of the great engineering hubs but a lot of the research is classified for National Security concerns.  Elon Musk said  “Locally autonomous drone warfare is where it’s at, where the future will be,” Musk said. “It’s not that I want the future to be this, that’s just what the future will be. … The fighter jet era has passed. Yeah, the fighter jet era has passed. It’s drones.”   This is a game-changer to the space sector where Space X is bringing competition where unfortunate donors have bloated the costs up. A $1 million dollar price tag versus a $2 billion dollar launching cost is capitalism at its finest.

An expanded Tesla with an additional three companies under the tutelage of Elon Musk who showed his ability to transform and innovate. The acquisition of Lockheed Martin will help transform the space and military contracting arena where new players are needed. Competition in this will propel and bring down the cost for startups and newer players trying to raise capital, develop new technology, and market new products. This will help young and new entrepreneurs who need just that one opportunity to begin because Space X will be able to lower the costs of entering the LEO space market.

For everyone who got the upgrade 1.5!!! If you know you know Choom!!!

The Geo Washington Project (Values Based Competition for T1C)

The current state of the United States and the West after the COVID-19 lockdowns created a population weary of the isolation they endured. A tragic loss of fellow citizens on top of various social media scandals and anxieties about the future is upsetting the political process. Geopolitically speaking with so much disruption in terms of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan, and the standard use of physical kinetic weapons (bombs, missiles, rockets, and bullets).

The economic sanctions from the US and the West fuel the concept of dedollarization which the Hamilton Institute is vehemently against because it harms the economy of the US. The rising specter of Cyberattacks as being the mainstream weapon choice in current and future conflict has consequences that can pull the major powers closer to war because if a zero-day is found and exploited by a nonstate actor but a state action can get the blame. Also, non-competitive nations can simply buy and launch cyber 9/11 terrorist-style attacks globally without a US military budget or forces. This could create another risk of destabilizing companies, individuals, and institutions away from the battlefield and bringing it to their doorstep.

Severe political deadlock and a record distrust of the institutions of the West can create a view of the future as dire and violence-plagued. We at the Hamilton Institute are calling for a new world order using the US to absorb the west and various other nations. Under the systems of Democracy and Capitalism to advance the human species to a much greater calling of a unified collective in order to secure the future and stabilize the planet. We are long passed the periods of mercantilism, industrial raw materials containment, silly puppet (client) governments who allocate aid back to certain donors, and the climate crisis which the West has solved but is not pushing because of these mundane distractions. The old order system has been completely disintegrated which has people looking for alternative ones.

An updated tax plan and enlarged tax base will help create a Neo Washington Consensus where we make up for the past mistakes and bring the world to the principles of the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States (including the Bill of Rights), and The Civil Rights Act of 1964  which offers the best form for the development and inclusion of the global human family. Visual Capitalist has a great concept for a US market that is larger than the Chinese market. This helps create a scenario that was outlined in Matthew Yglesias “1 billion Americans” without the crazy political debate that is not needed in Washington right now. Here’s a crazy concept include Russia in this market which will calm down the uncertainty and chaos on the planet today.

“No Senate tradition has been more steadfastly maintained than the annual reading of President George Washington’s 1796 Farewell Address. In this letter to “Friends and Citizens,” Washington warned that the forces of geographical sectionalism, political factionalism, and interference by foreign powers in the nation’s domestic affairs threatened the stability of the Republic. He urged Americans to subordinate sectional jealousies to common national interests.”

https://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/minute/Washingtons_Farewell_Address.htm

This is a fanatic time to review the farewell address of President Washington in this time to understand”Founder Washington’s Intent” to the creation of a more perfect union. Washington’s 1796 speech is eerily relevant in this global environment in which geographical sectionalism (Russia and Ukraine, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea/Taiwan), political factionalism (polarization, donors calling for favors, and corporate rent-seeking), and interference by foreign powers are too present. Our generation will advance the missing concept of “Spirit of 76” which is that we will keep marching forward together with malice and hatred toward none. Our Generation can move this forward and create a drive to perfect our genetic union which is our common heritage. Also, this will help reduce the inflation where 40 percent more dollars were created which we need to use and bring into the Western capital markets, VCs and Banks.

Type 1 Civilization, this where the world should be focusing its energy, passion, scientists, and world leaders to aspire. Our generation will control and master the planetary energy which is Thermo, hydro, wind, oceans, and use technology to build our future footprint into the stars. The United States can create a Global Landscaping on Earth and a Solar Scaping to ensure human survival, scientific development, and benefit. This well in turn creates an explosion of development and opportunities for humankind.

Our generation is bounded by these principles laid out in the preamble of the US Constitution which lays out where we are supposed to guide this massive Aircraft Carrier known as the United States.

  1. Establish justice
  2. Insure domestic tranquility
  3. Provide for the common defense
  4. Promote the general welfare
  5. Secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity

“It now rests with the confederated Powers, by the line of conduct they mean to adopt, to make this Country great, happy, & respectable; or to sink it into littleness—worse perhaps—into Anarchy & Confusion; for certain I am, that unless adequate Powers are given to Congress for the general purposes of the Federal Union that we shall soon moulder into dust.”

Geo. Washington

Pro Carbon Fraction

The focus on climate change and carbon is a healthy debate for the world but this comes with a huge caveat! The net-zero carbon goal is too extreme and in some circumstances is just too uncompetitive for business. For citizens, the costs of upgrading homes, appliances, and fees may not be tolerable in the long run with declining wages. Many issues are now being discussed to help transition the economy from (cradle to grave) (nonsustainable, nonrecyclable) to a (cradle to cradle) (sustainable, recyclable, and regenerating) to continue to have a habitable planet for later generations. I understand the alarmism and concern behind the green movement but The Hamilton Institute sees an opportunity to:

  1. Reindustrialize the U.S. and the West while keeping with the concept of creative destruction where the economy loses jobs while creating jobs to replace the ones that are destroyed.
  2. Create a capital market and banking solution where mergers can help prop up pensions and help channel wealth into the economy to help reduce poverty.
  3. Give the U.S and the West a chance to gain a foothold on new technologies and sciences where the Western Institutions (Military, Universities, Government, Businesses) continue to have cutting edge advantage.
  4. U.S. Military has options on fuel scenarios for a great power conflict where traditional fuel sources may be starved or denied.

These four outlines can help use the climate change policy goals by creating more inequality and tension between people in declining energy clusters (coal, oil,) and shifting them into the growing energy clusters (green hydrogen, carbon, natural gas).

Now you got it from the title and I’m going to say it again and again. You cannot have a green economy without the six most plentiful atoms in the universe in the equation. CARBON!!! Without carbon in the mix is like saying you want to lose weight by stopping drinking water completely or to reduce carbon you are going to try and reduce how much you exhale. It’s just mad.

A massive upstream infrastructure was built because it was the cheapest, profit-making, and best option at the time for the fossil fuel industry that has over a century of infrastructure.  Converting carbon into a cradle-to-cradle economy that keeps the business and stability together a massive downstream infrastructure needs to be built to complete a cycle. The U.S. Government can step in to help finance this aspect of sustainability. IF the U.S. and Western Governments do this it would make the private industry take this much more seriously with backing to plan for this policy/investments.

A combined upstream and downstream infrastructure will help reduce the excess emission but create a securitized carbon cycle/market.  This will pull carbon out of the atmosphere while decisions are made to either recycle or sequestered for later manufacturing.  In the next article, I will talk about using methane to heat up the planet while adjusting for the winter and summer climate position of the planet.

Since the Keystone XL pipeline has been canceled and the rise of Blue/Green hydrogen can be turned into an opportunity for the west. A multi-regional pipeline(s) pushed by the U.S. Government with Energy Majors can help the capital markets while propping up employment for an economy battered by COVID. Modifying the Keystone XL pipeline can be upgraded to carry hydrogen, methane, and hybrid gases with oil will help employ eager citizens while enhancing Western energy security.

The Department of Intelligence (A modification of the deep state) PT.1

Related image

A topic that has interested me is the deep state and its influence on foreign, defense, and domestic policy. Aside from the conspiracy theories and partisan battles is a chance to update the bureaucracy where we could modify the shadow government system of the U.K. We should always have a nonpartisan mindset to the staffing of the government and I’m not going to say that partisanship is going away. People are always going to put people who they trust and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s when you have highly qualified people who can’t serve their positions because of a political tiff. This blog post is calling for a Department of Intelligence where the 17 of America’s I.C. departments are merged into 3 or 4 major departments within a newly formed cabinet.

The stories of how we vet people for government positions need a major reform for the 21st century. I wanted to call for an ambitious reform of the U.S. Intelligence Community. Helping to consolidate, reform, and update the Intelligence community will reap benefits for the U.S. in terms of the U.S. Military and Law Enforcement but also tech clusters where new technologies can be developed. New jobs and services can eventually be transferred to the corporate/private sector which creates more prosperity. The I.C. has been the whipping boy for U.S. politicians’ incompetence and failures.

Image result for US Department of Intelligence

This is the proposed merging of the 17 agencies into four main sectors to help reduce the redundancy and burnout that could come from all the information that these sectors collect. The four major sectors that the Hamilton Institute calls for are Cyber, Financial, Geographic, and Military. This will help consolidate the massive amount of human capital and redirect it to a single cabinet that will help dissolve the burning out and redundant information problem in the I.C.

1. Cyber – The consolidation of the cyber sectors from many agencies into one sector (D.O.I – Department of Intelligence) will help policymakers come to decisions quickly and without the turf battles with currently haunts the I.C. The two prime examples are SolarWinds’ massive breach and the hacker who tried to poison the water supply of Oldsmar, Florida.  The Cyber Section of the Department of Intelligence will provide all-around counter and defensive operations for government, commerce, military, and law enforcement.

The civil liberties issues are ever-present but could be managed by FISA courts and the Judiciary Branch of the US govt. (Congress and the Senate). Issues that can and must be addressed by those two areas will help the cyber sector from being turned into a weapon against U.S. citizens.

2. Financial – The Financial sector will help with terrorist financing, narco-terrorism, and all other aspects of the financial prospects of threats against the United States particularly with bonds and stocks manipulation.

3. Geographic – The Geographic sector will look at where the resources are and set up scenarios in this new age of great power competition where the U.S. and China will start drawing lines on the planet Earth on who these resources/client states belong to. This is almost a cheat guide on why current conflicts exist and where the future conflicts will start next because economies are very hungry and staved very easily. Civil and Social unrest from Covid-19 sparked unemployment, stress, and rage from quarantine which built up distrust towards institutions. Resources being denied or cut off shows what our future looks like when industries collapse from this scenario.

4. Military – Consolidation of the Military intelligence wings into a single sector will help reduce redundancy and support flows of information within the Department of Intelligence. Conflicting areas of responsibilities and battles between 17 agencies where everyone wants to hold on will degrade collection and collaboration between different sectors.

Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Office of Naval Intelligence, Coast Guard Intelligence

Army Military Intelligence and Marine Corps Intelligence

The Heritage Foundation has a great proposal for a fix to the U.S. intelligence community and we recommend this with our plan. It helps update the bureaucracy to help adapt to all the changes that happen in this technology-based world.

Regional Thinking Pt. 3 Six Californias and (Six New Yorks, Texas’s and Florida’s)

This is a great idea after the first two proposals (1 and 2) for reforms to the government and economy of the U.S. This is the best idea to advance democracy and strengthen the republic at the same time. The left/right debate has been vaporized in the election of President Trump where the body politic was expecting someone out of the political world but got something that was totally unexpected. The destruction of two political dynasties which were the Bush and Clinton political families. Gov. Jeb Bush on the Republican side and Madame Secretary Hillary Clinton on the Democratic Side.

I don’t want to dwell on the 2016 election any longer since it was last year and it was an election that I wanted to end very quickly. Instead of the political left/right crap but actually, reforms and ideas to help the coming generation come into its own. This is the way to actually make the institutions of government respond and reflect the will of its citizens. The problem with American Democracy is the same old theme that many people are saying. It’s not tyranny, dictatorship, or Neo-Hitlerian thoughts (Alt-right, White supremacy, or Neo Confederacy), and I not saying there are no racial problems in the country. It’s taxation without representation.

I argue the question that is on the public, political scientists, historians, and politicians’ minds is that why is the public will is never reflected in the outcome of bills.

Michael Lind is going deeper into the debate that needs to be started and solved:

“Nobody should underestimate the power of inertia in American politics.  But we will never have any progress, if we accept stupid things just because they are old.

At this point, to the tune of “Yankee Doodle” on a fife and drum, somebody in the peanut gallery will object that our system represents the “genius of the Founding Fathers.”  Sorry, peanut gallery patriots — the major Founders hated the overrepresentation of small states in the Senate.  For most of their political careers, Alexander Hamilton favored more centralization, while the “Father of the Constitution,” James Madison (except early in his career), was for states’ rights.  But these two co-authors of the Federalist Papers agreed that states should be represented in the Senate on the basis of population and that the compromise in the Constitution that gave each state two senators, no matter its size, was a mistake.

In the guise of denouncing the Articles of Confederation, Hamilton made his feelings clear in Federalist No. 22:

The right of equal suffrage among the States is another exceptionable part of the Confederation. Every idea of proportion and every rule of fair representation conspire to condemn a principle, which gives to Rhode Island an equal weight in the scale of power with Massachusetts, or Connecticut, or New York; and to Delaware an equal voice in the national deliberations with Pennsylvania, or Virginia, or North Carolina. Its operation contradicts the fundamental maxim of republican government, which requires that the sense of the majority should prevail…. It may happen that this majority of States is a small minority of the people of America; and two thirds of the people of America could not long be persuaded, upon the credit of artificial distinctions and syllogistic subtleties, to submit their interests to the management and disposal of one third. The larger States would after a while revolt from the idea of receiving the law from the smaller.”

Michael Lind –Break up the states! The case for the United Statelets of America

We need to reform the Senate and allow the big states to be fully represented in the Senate where democracy has been missing for about 240 years. (241 if you include July 4, 2017) Michael Lind goes deeper into the sanity of representation of big states’ populations in the Senate:

“If we assume that microstates like Wyoming are not going to give up their two U.S. senators, then macrostates like California, Texas, Florida and New York should voluntarily divide themselves, in order to boost their representation in America’s upper house.  Under the Six Californias plan, for example, residents of present-day California would send 12 senators to Washington, not two.”

“And because they are smaller, the successor states to the Former California would be more citizen-friendly.  A citizen of Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota or Alaska — the four least populous states — has a much better chance of influencing the legislature or arranging an appointment with the governor than does a citizen of California or Texas who is not backed by an army of lobbyists or hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

“Why not form new states within the jurisdictions of the existing megastates? Why not divide in order to rule? This is not as crazy as it sounds. Commentator Walter Russell Mead has suggested that no American should have to live in a state with more than 4 or 5 million citizens. If the 4-million-population rule were applied to the large states, California might be subdivided into eight new states; Texas, five; New York and Florida, four; Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio, three; and Michigan and New Jersey, two.

Eight Californias? Five Texases? Four New Yorks? Why not?

That includes four Floridas in this new way of thinking. Redistricting is going to have a new meaning where instead of not only congressional districts but also regional governors manage these new areas. The only thing that I disagree with Michael Lind is the creation of new states. You could keep the same states but treat the new “statelets” as regions within a state as a district.

Let’s evolve our institutions and perfect the union! Mr. Draper is on to something big!!!!
